Autoimmune antibodies against acetylcholine receptors
Associated with thymoma
Pathogenesis
Neuromuscular junction blockade → fatigable muscle weakness
Clinical Features
Ptosis, diplopia
Weakness worsens with use
Difficulty swallowing, speaking
Respiratory crisis in severe cases
Treatment
Pyridostigmine
Corticosteroids
IVIG or plasmapheresis (crisis)
Thymectomy
