Luminal obstruction: fecalith, lymphoid hyperplasia
Pathogenesis
Obstruction → bacterial overgrowth → ischemia → perforation
Diagnosis
RLQ pain, McBurney tenderness
Elevated WBC
Ultrasound / CT scan (most accurate)
Treatment
Appendectomy
Antibiotics (pre- and post-op)
