Etiology

 • Group A β-hemolytic Streptococcus infection (pharyngitis/skin)

Pathogenesis

 • Immune complex deposition in glomeruli → complement activation → nephritis

Clinical features

 • Hematuria (cola-colored urine)
 • Oliguria, edema, hypertension
 • Often occurs in children

Lab findings

 • ↑ ASO titers, ↓ C3
 • RBC casts in urine
 • Mild proteinuria

Treatment

 • Supportive: diuretics, antihypertensives
 • Antibiotics for infection
